Thomas Boswell Sr Obituary

Thomas E. Boswell Sr, 72 of Chandler AZ passed away peacefully in his home June 30th. Tom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer but had been cancer free after a major surgery in 2013. This past year Tom unfortunately faced various medical concerns that ultimately his body could no longer endure.

Tom was the son of the late Donald and Jean (Forysthe). He was born in Bryn Mawr, PA. Tom attended West Deptford HS where he met his wife Carol. Tom proudly served in the Army from 1973 to 1979 in the 5th Special Forces. After his years of service, Tom and family lived in Williamstown NJ until 1988 and the next eight years in Washington Township NJ. While in NJ Tom was a hard working tile setter for the Hansen family flooring business. In 1996, Carol and Tom relocated to Arizona where Tom continued in the flooring business for a number of years. In 2004 Tom took his expertise to Lowe's retail corporation assisting customers with tile floor purchasing and later transitioned to cashier. Tom was a dedicated employee for 18 years and was devoted to making his Lowe's team members and customers happy. His sense of humor and charm always brightened their day.
Tom or ‘Boz’ as most knew him was a devoted husband, father and loyal friend. He was known for his skills in horseshoes, anyone competing against him didn't have a chance at winning. Another sport he enjoyed was Darts. Tom and his wife were members of Troy Vending Dart league in Phoenix where they won many tournaments together. Tom was a cook in the Army and this passion continued at home where he loved to cook on his grill. He enjoyed cooking his favorites: wings, shrimp, crab legs, corn on the cob and of course his morning breakfast egg and cheese sandwiches. Tom loved the holidays. His neighborhood well aware of this as he meticulously planned out his holiday display in front of his home, complete with lights and blow up decorations. Non holidays he proudly displayed the American flag along with other decorations supporting our veterans. At Lowes during the holidays, Tom would show up to work wearing a crazy holiday shirt, funny hat, and decorative pins to celebrate. At Christmas, Tom wore his Santa suit to work. Customers and their children would enjoy seeing and talking with Santa Claus during their shopping trip. We are certain there isn't a movie Tom missed! He enjoyed the sci-fi and action movies and was a big fan of the old classics. Music and dancing were other passions, as he loved all genres 70's, 80's rock, pop, disco and country. Upbeat songs would surely have Tom singing and tapping along to the beat. A good time was sure to be had when in Tom’s company. He wouldn’t have it any other way! This and his heartfelt kindness will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Tom was a devoted husband to his wife Carol (Hansen) of 53 years. Dear brother of the late Donald Boswell and Ruth Moran (Bob predeceased). Loving father to his daughter, Stacy Baker (Michael) and his two sons the late Thomas Boswell Jr. and Michael Boswell (Nicole Johnson). Beloved grandfather of Meaghan, Michael, Brandon and MacKenzie.  Will be remembered by step granddaughter Ashley (Johnson) and step great grandson Patrick.
A celebration of his life will be held 12 to 3pm on Friday, July 8, at American Legion Post 35, 2240 W Chandler Blvd, Chandler AZ 85224.
Donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Hospice of Valley, 1188 N Dobson Rd Chandler AZ 85224 or American Legion Post 35, 2240 W Chandler Blvd Chandler AZ 85224.
Carol and Stacy wish to extend their sincere thanks to Hospice of the Valley and All Options Funeral Home for their assistance during this most difficult time.
