Hector Murillo Jr.
Hector Jr. was born June 1, 1948 , passed away May 6, 2023, and laid to rest on Saturday, May 13 at the Resthaven Cemetery in Phoenix. He was the first child to Hector and Alice Murillo.
Hector Jr will be greatly missed, he was always friendly, always offering a handshake or fist bump, and enjoyed being around family. Hector Jr was challenged with Intellectual disability (or ID) which was diagnosed early in life, but still had a full and engaged life full of lots of family experiences, and always willing to help with work or chores around the house. He loved 60's music, his favorites being The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Rolling Stones. He loved sports, enjoyed playing basketball, and watching Phoenix Suns games and Monday Night Football. He was also a master puzzlist, easily assembling 500 to 1000 piece puzzles. Later in his life, he enjoyed a lot of down time, spending evenings watching tv with our Dad. Their favorite shows being MacGyver, TJ Hooker, Matlock, and Johnny Carson. He also loved the great old western tv shows like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman.
He is preceded in passing by his brothers Daniel and Ernest.
The Murillo Family would also like to take this opportunity to extend their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to The Country Villas Assisted Living home, as well as Hospice Of The Valley for working with Hector Jr and the Murillo Family. Their assistance, accommodation, and care greatly enhanced his life, especially during his final days with us.
Our family would also like to express, having experienced first hand, that while having a sibling with special needs does come with challenges, it also comes with the understanding that they’re all part of what makes up our community, and are grateful where inclusion and accommodation were shared with our brother.
Hector Jr. leaves behind three of his brothers, Steve, Richard, and Leo, and his sister Cecile, many nephews and nieces, and friends, who will all miss him dearly.
