Darrel James Burns, age 83, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. Darrel was born on February 25, 1935 in Murray, Utah, to Kenneth Leo Burns and Ezna Thompson Burns Greene. He married Jeanette Clark in the Salt Lake Temple on December 18, 1961. He was blessed with many talents, one of which was storytelling. People were fascinated by the details he could remember and tell about his experiences in life. Darrel was also a talented designer and color consultant, beautifying the homes of so many in the states he lived: Utah, Washington, and Arizona. He found great satisfaction in teaching and was able to teach furniture refinishing courses at Lake Washington Technical College for many years. Darrel was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Early in his life, he served a mission to England. Throughout his life he served in many ways, including a counselor in three bishoprics, a church-service mission to the Glendale Institute, and an ordinance worker in the Phoenix Temple. He was loved by all who knew him and was a great influence in the lives of many. Darrel is survived by his wife Jeanette; four children, Rob (Ann), Tony, Kathryn Mathews (Shawn) Anjanette Jackson (Glen);
14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Deer Valley Stake Center located at 2939 West Rose Garden Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85027. The viewing will be from 9:00 am - 10:00 am.
