Catherine Brett Obituary

Catherine (Nee) Brett, formerly of Port St. Lucie Florida, died on October 5, 2023 at the age of 72.  Catherine grew up in Lower Burrell, PA. She graduated from Burrell Senior High School, then from Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in Music. After graduating Edinboro, Cathy moved to Florida and taught in the middle schools in Palm Beach County area, first as a music teacher and later as a math teacher.  Later, Cathy earned a Master’s in Computer Science from NOVA University and began teaching website development to teachers with FIRN (Florida Internet Resource Network) and later was an adjunct professor with Indian River State College and Kaiser College. Cathy enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid tennis player in North Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie. She also enjoyed running, lifting weights and yoga. Cathy was the oldest child of the late James L and Pauline (Lewandowsky) Nee. Cathy is predeceased by her long-time partner Albert Valin, and her brothers James Nee and (John) Kevin Nee. She is survived by three siblings, Suzanne Nee of Tempe, Arizona, Paula McKinley of Canonsburg, PA, and Michael (Debbie) Nee  of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., nieces Jamie Lynn Nee, Allison Gleasman and nephew, Elliott Nee.

There will be no viewing. Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
