William Henry Marron

September 6, 1946 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Captain William Henry Marron (USMC retired), "Bill" of Sun Lakes, Arizona went to live with the Lord on November 6, 2017 at the age of 71. He was born on September 6, 1946 to Mary Grace Lane in Pittsburgh, PA. Bill spent his childhood in Anchorage, Alaska and Lubbock, Texas. He always told stories about when he handed out newspapers as a kid when Alaska became the 49th state in 1959.

Bill graduated from Friendship High School and Pepperdine University earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. Before serving active duty in Vietnam, in 1966, Bill married Kathy, the love of his life, and they lived together happily for fifty-one years. Everyone knew their relationship was special and most commented they hoped to find a love as pure and strong as theirs. Together they raised two daughters, Michelle and Stacey, and called their primary home Lenexa, Kansas. After his twenty-years of service in the Corp, Bill spent the rest of his professional career holding various positions in the data processing industry and as a small business owner. In his retirement, Bill became quite skilled in lapidary arts. He loved to make rocks beautiful and he specialized in hand-crafting pen sets, bears, buffalo and cabochons.

Bill’s second love was fishing. He was happiest on the lake, in his boat, especially when his Grandsons Zach and Alex were with him. Bill was also highly accomplished in Okinawan, Hawaiian Kenpo, and Okinawan Kubudo martial arts. He achieved professorship (10th degree) in all three systems. Karate was in his blood and his legacy in martial arts is worldwide.

Bill had a servant’s heart, making everyone feel welcomed and loved. He always put a smile on your face. He said he never met a stranger he couldn't hold a conversation with. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend of many. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Grace Lane and brother, Richard Marron. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Kathy Marron, of Sun Lakes, Arizona; daughter Michelle Atwood and husband Jon and grandchildren Blake and Andrew Atwood of Southlake, Texas; daughter Stacey Sell and husband Dan and grandchildren Nate Sell and Zachery and Alexander Vrbas of Tempe, Arizona; sister Carrie McLeod of Tucson, Arizona; sister Mary Ann and her husband Norbert Romero of Palm Harbor, Florida; sister Nettie Dahlgren of Houston, Texas; extended family and many friends.
