68 of Tempe, passed away on July 6, 2017. Robert Paul Swierski, born August 28, 1948 in East Chicago, Indiana, left this earth on July 6, 2017. He moved to Arizona in 1959, where he lived in Scottsdale, Mesa, and Tempe. He was an alumnus of Coronado High School, and earned a Master's degree from ASU. After serving as a medic in Vietnam, and an EMT in Mesa, Robert worked for various technology companies before retiring from Intel Corporation. In recent years, he produced dance videos for schools across the Phoenix metro area and helped many friends with video and photography projects. He worked tirelessly with the Coronado High School Alumni Association and was considered the unofficial school historian. He also enjoyed being a Scottsdale Ambassador.Robert loved the desert, the Arizona mountains, Oak Creek Canyon, the beaches of the NC Outer Banks; and found great joy chasing thunderstorms. People knew he had a quirky sense of humor, understood he could sometimes be a real character, and knew he had a pure heart, a patient ear, and a willingness to help others. His kindness and generosity were the traits that people loved most about him. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Stella Kemp Swierski, his father Paul Swierski, and a sister Marian Olson. Robert will be missed by his sister Louise Swierski, his son Michael Greenwood, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Greenwood, grandson John, granddaughter Ann, a niece Nikki Olson, and countless friends whose lives he touched deeply. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 16, at 10:00 am at Richardson Funeral Home (2621 S. Rural Road in Tempe). Donations may be made to the Desert Botanical Garden.
